Dear readers, Dr. Jakob Karszt

popular nearshore regions are Eastern Europe and northern Africa. The importance of these regions continues to increase. Since early 2010 eCl@ss is also present on the African continent by POET LLC Egypt as official business office. Conversations with customers and prospects as well as the number of near-shore projects show a positive and steady development of e-business projects made in Egypt. Some of these projects we would like to present in the section eCommerce News.

With Release 5.3, published end of December, the service procurement has been expanded in our ePROCURE solutions. Find out details in the section ePROCURE News.

Since mid-November POET AG is official member of the Intitiative Cloud Services Initiative made in Germany. Cloud computing is no longer a hype, but according to a survey by market research firm Gartner, is in second place of technology issues in the companies.

Trends in e-Commerce – acting together instead of acting alone

There are a variety of PIM systems and data management tools for product data on the market. All have one thing in common, they are locally installed on a company and must be filled with enormous effort, maintained and integrated into other systems. There is no direct link between manufacturers, suppliers and trade. As a result, product information from manufacturers and suppliers have to be collected, they have to be prepared for import into your own system and they have to be partially maintained manually and finally provided for the different sales channels.
Imagine : A collaborative supply-chain-wide product management, comprehensive capabilities in the description and preparation of data and fastest search and evaluation functions. The simple and quick integration of existing product information from manufacturers and suppliers, the optimal care and enrichment of the data with additional information and targeted distribution to the sales channels.
This results in product data, as they are really needed: in the shortest time, suitable for all sales channel and customers, fully tested, up-to-date at all times under their control!
Curious? We will inform you about our innovative development in e-commerce

POET is an official member of the Cloud

Since mid-November is the POET AG a member in "Cloud Services Made in Germany". What kind of cloud services POET offers and which development the cloud will take in Germany – These and other questions are answered in an interview with Dr. Jakob Karszt initiative Cloud Services Made in Germany.

Cloud Services: POET is participating as a solution partner in the initiative Cloud Services Made in Germany. What cloud services do you offer ?

Dr. Karszt: “We provide B2B services for the collaboration between suppliers and customers to simplify e-business with large product catalogs!
Suppliers and customers log on to a common virtual service center and work together on their business processes from quote to order processing with an eShop. Integration with existing in-house systems is preserved. The Software-as-a-Service solutions from POET are used since several years in various industries including the media and the consumer goods industry. We create, maintain and operate the B2B systems, support the users and provide them with additional content and business services."

Cloud Services: Why should a user look for cloud services "Made in Germany"?

Dr. Karszt: „Privacy and security is a valuable asset and has high priority. Even the legislation sets a high value on this in Germany. Accordingly, appropriate standards of recognized are certified by organizations and agencies. Thus, for example our own POET Saas services are certified by information-security standard ISO27001.“

Cloud Services: In a recent survey of Computerwoche a fifth of the respondents named the idea of a "German Cloud" as a "nonsense". How do you feel about that statement?

Dr. Karszt: „Well, I see the initiative on the one hand as a driver for SaaS-innovations in the provider environment, on the other hand, it reduces the existing fears of misuse on customer-side and unpredictable legal situations. In addition, the German provider of IT should play in an important role at important developments."

Cloud Services: Which prognosis do you have for the future development of the topic Cloud Computing in Germany?

Dr. Karszt: „The term 'Cloud' has now already become a buzzword, and no one knows exactly what is meant by it. Basically it is about the system and location independence and flexibility in the provision of IT and communications services. In future this will be the matter of course.“
